Functional testing is a non-traditional test that involves examining a person’s stool, saliva, urine, or blood to assess various health markers to gain a deeper understanding of their health and the root cause of disease. ZRT is the recognized leader in at-home saliva and dried blood spot collection methods for hormone and wellness testing. We are proud to offer their hormone testing that assesses gonadal, adrenal, and thyroid hormones. 

DUTCH

The DUTCH test is used to assess hormonal balance through dried urine samples, which offers a detailed profile of metabolites in the body. It looks at hormone metabolism and OATs, which provide insight into nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin, neuroinflammation and more.

GI MAP

The GI MAP test is designed for those experiencing digestive issues. This test analyzes stool samples to equip healthcare providers with specific information that can be used to formulate treatment options.

Traditional lab ranges may not be optimal or functional because they are often created using an unhealthy population. Functional lab ranges are much narrower and linked to better overall health. Do you have multiple medications? Do you often forget whether you take your medications? Tired of all the bottles and putting your pills in a weekly pill dispenser? We can organize your prescriptions so you are taking them at the right time of day and, better yet, make one trip to the pharmacy each month to pick them up in convenient packaging. 

We have a convenient drive-thru if you are sick or aren’t able to come in. Just remember we often have a line at the drive-thru and can only help one car at a time. But inside, we can help numerous people and probably get you out quicker. If you are using the drive-thru and waiting in line, feel free to call us so we can get your medications ready while you are waiting. We also offer free local delivery for those times you just can’t make it to the pharmacy. 

When you get your prescriptions filled, the pharmacist checks for drug interactions and allergies. At Magnolia Pharmacy, we want you to be your healthiest. That includes making you aware if your prescribed medications could be robbing you of the nutrients you need. Medication induced nutrient depletion is when medications even over the counter change physiology in a way that results in nutrient deficiencies over time. These nutrient deficiencies could cause a bothersome side effect, possibly leading to another prescribed medication or an adverse event like heart failure, as is the case with statin medications. 

Statins are medications used to treat high cholesterol and are one of the most widely prescribed medications in America. But they deplete CoQ10, a powerful antioxidant made by your body and stored in the mitochondria of your cells. Levels already decline with age but adding a statin medication can further decrease CoQ10 leading to heart failure, muscle pain and weakness (a reported side effect of statin medications called rhabdomyolysis), irritability, mood swings, depression and impotence. Another example of nutrient depletion is beta blockers, a class often prescribed for high blood pressure depletes melatonin, the hormone that helps control your sleep cycle. Want to learn more? Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy involves custom compounds using hormones such as progesterone, estradiol, estriol, testosterone or DHEA that are made to be identical to the hormones you have in your body at the lowest effective dose. Low-dose naltrexone can be used for autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, thyroid disease, and more. Currently, Naltrexone is only commercially available in a 50mg tablet, but LDN therapy is typically prescribed as 0.5 mg to 4.5 mg per day. We adjust to the correct dose depending on how a patient responds. Low-dose naltrexone has anti-inflammatory effects, a positive effect on the immune system, and increases endogenous enkephalins and endorphins. We can compound LDN in various dosage forms, from capsules to transdermal creams.
