Pharmacist compounding custom medications

We provide a wide range of services to our customers as part of our commitment to helping people live their healthiest lives. Learn more about some of the services we provide here at Magnolia Pharmacy.

Non Sterile Compounding add

At Magnolia Pharmacy, we offer non sterile compounding. Compounding is the creation of a medication. By adjusting the dose, flavor, form, or combination of medications, we can better meet the patient's needs or help improve compliance by changing the route of delivery to avoid adverse side effects. Have more questions about compounding? Reach out to us or check out our compounding information below to learn more about specific health conditions we compound for.

Functional Medicine Consultation add

At Magnolia Pharmacy, we take it a step further to help you get to your healthiest self. We offer functional medicine consultations. Functional medicine is a branch of health care that focuses on identifying and treating the root cause of a disease, not just its symptoms. By looking at lifestyle, diet, an extensive medical history, and environment, we investigate what is causing your current symptoms and offer multiple modalities to help you achieve and maintain good health and longevity. Schedule a consultation with us today!

Functional Testing add

Functional testing is a non-traditional test that involves examining a person’s stool, saliva, urine, or blood to assess various health markers to gain a deeper understanding of their health and the root cause of disease. We offer a wide array of tests for our patients. Below are the most popular tests we offer:

ZRT is the recognized leader in at-home saliva and dried blood spot collection methods for hormone and wellness testing. We are proud to offer their hormone testing that assesses gonadal, adrenal, and thyroid hormones.

The DUTCH test is used to assess hormonal balance through dried urine samples, which offers a detailed profile of metabolites in the body. It looks at hormone metabolism and OATs, which provide insight into nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin, neuroinflammation and more.

The GI MAP test is designed for those experiencing digestive issues. This test analyzes stool samples to equip healthcare providers with specific information that can be used to formulate treatment options.

The KBMO test is ideal for those who deal with suspected food intolerances or sensitivities. This test provides detailed results that can help us craft a diet plan that works best for you.

Functional Blood Lab Review & Supplement Recommendation add

Traditional lab ranges may not be optimal or functional because they are often created using an unhealthy population. Functional lab ranges are much narrower and linked to better overall health. At Magnolia Pharmacy, we have the Lab Essential Supplement Program. We run a functional lab review using optimal values and classify what health systems you need to support because you may not know what everything on the CBC or CMP panel your provider ran means or what you need to do to improve your values. We are here to help. We can make supplement recommendations to improve your health and longevity based on your most recent lab work.

Weight Loss add

In one trial, subjects who followed a 5 day fasting mimicking diet each month for three months showed that body mass index, blood pressure, fasting glucose, IGF-1, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and C-reactive protein were beneficially affected and reduced the risk for disease. They even did a clinical trial on skin. Showing that women who used ProLon for three consecutive months demonstrated significant skin benefits, including improvements in overall appearance, fine lines, radiance, dryness, clarity, and smoothness. Compliance Packaging add

Do you have multiple medications? Do you often forget whether you take your medications? Tired of all the bottles and putting your pills in a weekly pill dispenser? We can organize your prescriptions so you are taking them at the right time of day and, better yet, make one trip to the pharmacy each month to pick them up in convenient packaging.

Drive-Thru and Delivery add

We have a convenient drive-thru if you are sick or aren’t able to come in. Just remember we often have a line at the drive-thru and can only help one car at a time. But inside, we can help numerous people and probably get you out quicker. If you are using the drive-thru and waiting in line, feel free to call us so we can get your medications ready while you are waiting. We also offer free local delivery for those times you just can’t make it to the pharmacy.

Medication Therapy Management add

When you get your prescriptions filled, the pharmacist checks for drug interactions and allergies. But, if you are wondering if a symptom you are having is a side effect of one of your medications, if a supplement you want to take interacts with your current medication, or if you don’t get all of your medications filled at one pharmacy,  schedule a medication consultation. The insurance companies call it medication therapy management, or MTM, and oftentimes will pay for this service. If you're interested in medication therapy management, schedule an appointment today.

Nutrient Depletion add

At Magnolia Pharmacy, we want you to be your healthiest. That includes making you aware if your prescribed medications could be robbing you of the nutrients you need. Medication induced nutrient depletion is when medications even over the counter change physiology in a way that results in nutrient deficiencies over time. These nutrient deficiencies could cause a bothersome side effect, possibly leading to another prescribed medication or an adverse event like heart failure, as is the case with statin medications.

Statins are medications used to treat high cholesterol and are one of the most widely prescribed medications in America. But they deplete CoQ10, a powerful antioxidant made by your body and stored in the mitochondria of your cells. Levels already decline with age but adding a statin medication can further decrease CoQ10 leading to heart failure, muscle pain and weakness (a reported side effect of statin medications called rhabdomyolysis), irritability, mood swings, depression and impotence. Another example of nutrient depletion is beta blockers, a class often prescribed for high blood pressure depletes melatonin, the hormone that helps control your sleep cycle. Want to learn more? Schedule a nutrient depletion consultation where we will review your medications to check for nutrient depletion and then recommend further testing or supplements to counteract these effects.

Medicare Open Enrollment add

Medicare Open Enrollment happens every year from  October 15th to December 7th. It is best to review your plan every year to make sure it is still the best plan for your medications and the formulary hasn't changed for the new year. We can help compare all plans available to give you the information you need to make an educated decision.

Many medications come in a tablet form of varying sizes, which is not always a suitable or comfortable method for receiving medicine for every patient. Our pharmacist can take the active ingredients and create a prescription best suited for each patient’s physical needs. Working with your prescriber, we can make adjustments to the form of dosage, the medicine’s strength or flavor, and even remove parts of the dosage that cause you allergic reactions. Compounding enables us to provide you with a truly personalized medicine. We can do this for just about any medication including those for skin care, bioidentical hormones and making topical pain medications. Compounding is great for adults, kids and your pets!

Veterinary Compounding add

Do you have difficulty giving your furry family member their medications? With compounding, we can create a custom formula to help, whether it is a liquid, topical or a treat. If your pet has figured out all of your tricks and you struggle to give them their medications, give us a call or come right in. We’ll compound a medication specific to their needs that will be easy for them to take, and relieve you of this stress. We can use flavoring your animal will love!

BHRT add

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy involves custom compounds using hormones such as progesterone, estradiol, estriol, testosterone or DHEA that are made to be identical to the hormones you have in your body at the lowest effective dose. Compounded preparations of hormones can be topical, oral, troche (think jolly rancher) or vaginal.  At Magnolia Pharmacy, we believe to test is best because many symptoms can be caused by different hormones being too high or too low. For example, hot flashes can be caused by too little or too much estrogen or too little progesterone. This is one reason we have created the Magnolia Hormone Program. It includes testing twice a year, symptom check-in with our pharmacist, Shannon, and  20% off of supplements related to hormone health.

Currently, Naltrexone is only commercially available in a 50mg tablet, but LDN therapy is typically prescribed as 0.5 mg to 4.5 mg per day. We adjust to the correct dose depending on how a patient responds. Low-dose naltrexone has anti-inflammatory effects, a positive effect on the immune system, and increases endogenous enkephalins and endorphins. We can compound LDN in various dosage forms, from capsules to transdermal creams.

Dermatology add

We work with dermatologists to create custom formulas tailored to patients needs. By combining multiple ingredients, we can target different indications or combat side effects of one of the active ingredients such as dry skin.

We have compounded formulations for common skin ailments such as rosacea, melasma, seborrheic dermatitis, warts, itchy skin, scars, and psoriasis.

Thyroid add

Managing thyroid can be difficult, and sometimes custom formulations are needed to help balance a patient's symptoms and thyroid levels. We will work with your doctor to create custom formulations to help you feel your healthiest.

Whether you need wound care cream, topical bandages, or other treatments, we can help. Our compounding services can play a significant role in your healing process.
